About the Course

IHM was awarded accreditation in 2019 to deliver the Entry Program for Internationally Qualified Registered Nurses (EPIQRN) bridging program. The new process for the bridging program shifted to OBA (Outcome-Based Assessment), and AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) will be in charge of conducting the two national examinations.

IHM began offering the GCAN Australian Nursing Practice course to assist IQNM’s (Internationally Qualified Nurses and Midwives) in acquiring the necessary knowledge as well as the necessary amount of hands-on experience to satisfy the AHPRA standards necessary for registration.

Internationally qualified nurses and midwives (IQNMs) who complete the AHPRA Self-check and are advised to continue as Stream B candidates are those IQNMs who hold a qualification that is relevant to the profession but is not substantially equivalent or based on similar competencies to an approved qualification. IQNMs who are assigned to Stream B and must complete an Outcome Based Assessment (OBA) will benefit greatly from taking the GCAN Australian Nursing Practice course.

* This course does not lead to direct registration as a Nurse or Midwife in Australia. IHM can assist with the complete processing of AHPRA registration for students enrolling in GCAN Australian Nursing Practice.

Bachelor of Social Work CRICOS Course Code:108842E

The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) is designed to sequence and stage learning across core units through major streams, providing a scaffolding approach to knowledge and skill development as well as increasing complexity in assessments and professional reflection. To complete the Bachelor of Social Work students must attain 256 credit points

The accreditation ascribed to the IHM Bachelor of Social Work Program of Provisional Accreditation (2022-2025) means that it is a new program which has not yet delivered its first graduates. Provisional accreditation does not impact graduates of the BSW course with this status. Graduates have the same eligibility and standing as graduates in fully accredited social work programs.

Course Flexibility

What you need to know:

IHM believes in flexible learning as most of our GCAN students work full time. Keeping this in mind, the GCAN specialisation courses are delivered online, where the student gets to keep their current job while studying with us at IHM:

All students joining the course will be starting with one single unit and progressing to speciality units.

The students get the flexibility to study 1 unit per semester.

Students can complete the course in one year by taking one unit per term or in six months full-time.
