Course Description
The Certificate IV in Leadership and Management reflects the role of individuals working as developing and emerging leaders and managers in a range of enterprise and industry contexts.
As well as assuming responsibility for their performance, individuals at this level provide leadership, guidance, and support to others. They also have some responsibility for organising and monitoring the output of their team. They apply solutions to a defined range of predictable and unpredictable problems and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources.
Course Duration
The course is delivered over 52 weeks consisting of 40 weeks tuition and 12 weeks of holidays. Students will participate in nominal (supervised) activities for a total of 800 hours at 20 hours each and unsupervised activities outside of class time for a total of 160 hours at 4 hours per week. Tuition is split over four 10-week study periods and 12 weeks of holidays.
Classes are scheduled for 20 hours of face-to-face delivery per week consisting of 8 hours per day for 2 days and 4 hours of supervised study per face-to-face addition, students are expected to undertake 4 hours of unsupervised independent study and assessment outside of scheduled class time per week.
During term time students attend scheduled face-to-face classes and supervised study sessions, where they can get additional support from the trainer. Please refer to the course delivery schedule for further details.
The approximate delivery hours for this course are as follows:
Face-to-face classes – 40 weeks x 20 hours per face-to-face hours
Independent study and assessment outside of class time – 40 weeks x 4 hours per week = 160 hours
Total course hours: 800 + 160 = 960

Students must undertake Ashton College’s Language, Literacy, and Numeracy test to demonstrate their English language proficiency (and to identify if additional support in any of those areas is required) before commencing their course

Independent study and assessment outside of class time – 40 weeks x 10 hours per week = 400 hrs
Total course hours: 800 + 400= 1200 hrs
Students also have the option to attend supervised study sessions for 4 hours per week during term time, although this is not included in the volume of learning.
